What’s the best machine for cutting 2" diameter to a 4" diameter stainless steel pipe/tube?
Stainless steel 201, 304, 316 or mild steel tube/pipe, range from a 2" diameter to a 4" diameter are widely used in industries production, specially in exhaust/turbo work. When processing those pipe/tubing, normal steps as follows:
Cut the tube → Deburr the tube cut surface → Clean edges of the tube → Sanding flat → Clean again →weld it connecting to the other tube
Sometimes some of the steps need process twice to make sure its flat and burr free. It is very time-consuming and labor-intensive. Go through above steps, it can be found that a lot of time and labor are consumed to deburr and smooth cut surface.
Outside diameter of an automotive exhaust/turbocharger tube is between 2" to 4". Within this diameter, some people would suggest using a small band saw. However, professionals think that a cold circular saw is more suitable. Not only the cutting surface of cold circular saws more vertical than band saws’ cutting; but most important is that cutting surface of cold circular saw are smooth & burr-free. In this way, cold circular saw can minimizing the subsequent steps in processing pipe/tubing, time-saving and labor saving.
